In 2021 the average per kWh cost was <strong>$141<\/strong>. However, overall Li-ion costs have dramatically decreased over the last ten years.&nbsp;<\/p>    <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What is a kWh? <\/strong>Kilowatt-hours (kWh) measure a battery&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nrel.gov\/state-local-tribal\/blog\/posts\/batteries-101-series-how-to-talk-about-batteries-and-power-to-energy-ratios.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">energy storage capacity<\/a>. A kilowatt (kW) is a unit that measures electric energy consumption, and a kilowatt-hour is the energy a 1-kW device consumes in an hour. To calculate a battery&#8217;s kWh, use the following formula:<\/p>    <figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-stripes\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>kWh = Amp hours \u00d7 Voltage \u00f7 1,000<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>    <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, if you have a <strong>12-Ah 100-volt<\/strong> battery, its kWh would equal <em>12 x 100 \u00f7 1,000<\/em>.
