Zone 4a and 4b<\/span><\/h3>
Zone 4a is the rarest planting zone in Nevada, experiencing average minimum temperatures of -30 to -25 F<\/strong>. This zone is only found in a small area in Elko County, between Wild Horse<\/strong> and Mountain City<\/strong>. <\/p>
Zone 4b, on the other hand, is slightly less cold, with extreme temperatures ranging from -25 to -20 F<\/strong>. In Nevada, this zone is found only in the area surrounding zone 4a in Elko County.<\/p>
Vegetation in these zones need to be exceptionally tough to withstand the cold winter temperatures, often growing close to the ground to survive the harsh conditions. Zone 5a and 5b<\/span><\/h3>
Zone 5a<\/strong> isn’t widespread in Nevada either, but it is found in a few small areas. This zone has average annual extreme minimum temperatures of -20 to -15 F<\/strong>. It is mostly found in:<\/p>
- Central Elko County<\/strong>, including the city of Wells<\/strong><\/li>
- A small area in eastern Eureka County<\/strong><\/li>

- A really small area in northern Washoe <\/strong>and Humboldt Counties, <\/strong>near the Sheldon National Antelope Refuge<\/li>
- An area in eastern Churchill County<\/strong><\/li> <\/ul>

Zone 7a and 7b<\/span><\/h3>
Zone 7a has average minimum temperatures of 0 to 5 F<\/strong>, while zone 7b\u2019s minimum temperature range is between 5 and 10 F<\/strong>. Both of these zones provide a milder climate, and they\u2019re situated mainly in central and western Nevada.<\/p>

Zone 8a and 8b<\/span><\/h3>

This zone can mostly be found in south central Nevada, particularly in the counties of Lincoln, southern Nye, and northern Clark. The city of Pahrump<\/strong>, in Nye County, is within this zone.<\/p>

Zone 9a and 9b<\/span><\/h3>
Zone 9a<\/strong> experiences extreme average minimum temperatures of 20 to 25 F<\/strong>. This zone is mainly found in Clark County<\/strong>, including the western edge of Las Vegas<\/strong> and some areas in North Las Vegas<\/strong>.<\/p>
Zone 9b<\/strong> is found only in Clark County, particularly in the area surrounding the Colorado River<\/strong>. This zone includes the city of Henderson<\/strong>, as well as most of Las Vegas<\/strong> and North Las Vegas<\/strong>. It experiences minimum temperatures ranging from 25 to 30 F<\/strong>.<\/p>
