Only a tiny portion of the state falls into this zone, located in Knox County, just <strong>east of Mount Vernon<\/strong>.<\/p>    <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This area includes the region near Apple Valley Lake and the <strong>Howard <\/strong>community.<\/p>    <h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"2-zone-6a\"><span id=\"zone-6a\">Zone 6a<\/span><\/h3>    <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zone 6a experiences average extreme minimum temperatures between <strong>-10 F and -5 F<\/strong>, making it a bit warmer than zone 5b. This zone covers mostly the upper part of Ohio, including:<\/p>    <ul class=\"wp-block-list\"> <li><strong>Central Ohio: <\/strong>Counties like Morrow, Licking, Marion, and Knox (including the city of <strong>Mount Vernon<\/strong>)<\/li> <\/ul>    <ul class=\"wp-block-list\"> <li><strong>Northwest Ohio: <\/strong>Counties like Williams, Defiance, Paulding, and Putnam (where <strong>Ottawa<\/strong> is located)<\/li> <\/ul>    <ul class=\"wp-block-list\"> <li><strong>Southwest Ohio:<\/strong> Counties like Darke, Champaign, and Preble<\/li> <\/ul>    <ul class=\"wp-block-list\"> <li><strong>Northeast Ohio:<\/strong> Counties like Trumbull, Mahoning, and Geauga<\/li> <\/ul>    <h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"3-zone-6b\"><span id=\"zone-6b\">Zone 6b<\/span><\/h3>    <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zone 6b experiences average extreme minimum temperatures between <strong>-5 F and 0 F<\/strong>. This zone covers much of the lower part of Ohio but also extends to areas near Lake Erie. The majority of Ohio\u2019s major cities are located in this zone. It includes:<\/p>    <ul class=\"wp-block-list\"> <li><strong>Central Ohio:<\/strong> Counties like Franklin (where the capital, <strong>Columbus<\/strong>, is located), Pickaway, and Delaware<\/li> <\/ul>    <ul class=\"wp-block-list\"> <li><strong>Southwest Ohio:<\/strong> Counties such as Clinton, Highland, Montgomery (home to <strong>Dayton<\/strong>), and Hamilton (where <strong>Cincinnati<\/strong> is located)<\/li> <\/ul>    <ul class=\"wp-block-list\"> <li><strong>Southeast Ohio:<\/strong> Including Meigs, Athens, and Washington counties<\/li> <\/ul>    <ul class=\"wp-block-list\"> <li><strong>Northeast Ohio:<\/strong> Counties like Harrison (home to <strong>Cadiz<\/strong>), Stark (where <strong>Canton<\/strong> is located), Summit (home to <strong>Akron<\/strong>), and the northern part of Huron County (where <strong>Norwalk<\/strong> is located)<\/li> <\/ul>    <ul class=\"wp-block-list\"> <li><strong>Lake Erie\u2019s shore:<\/strong> Including Lucas County (where <strong>Toledo<\/strong> is located), Ottawa, and Erie counties<\/li> <\/ul>    <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Note: <\/strong>Not sure which species to plant in this zone?
