What made you want to start a lawn care service?
I started doing lawn care services with my father during grade school. I worked weekends, afternoons, evenings, and whenever I didn't have school, like holidays. After high school I decided to do it full time because it was something that I really liked and I knew that there was a potential for having a healthy business in that industry.

What do you love most about being a lawn care provider?
I love the environment. I love being outdoors and being active because this job requires a lot of physical activity to be able to perform the work. With lawn care, you get to be outside. Even though it's the same routine or the same type of work every day and week, it's still different because you drive around, go to different properties, in different areas. It's always something different.

What's your best lawn care tip?
My best lawn care tip would be consistency. When it comes to performing work for a particular property, you should either stick to a good schedule, like servicing the property on a weekly basis. Keep it consistent because the moment you start falling out of that consistency, it’s going to take a toll on the yard. Stick to a regular frequency and make sure that you don't skip a week because that can hurt the landscape.

Do you have a lawn care specialty?
I'm very good at troubleshooting, fixing, and adjusting irrigation systems. As well as pretty much every little thing that comes with the job whether it's mowing, edging, trimming, blowing, like I've done it for so long that I have a nature for perfecting every little thing that I do. It just comes naturally to me now.

Inland Empire lawn care services

As a home or business owner in Riverside, you want to keep the exterior of your property looking great all year long, so you need to know the best landscaping tricks to make that happen. Even if you hire an Inland Empire lawn service company to take care of your yard's needs, you'll want to learn the principles of maintaining a lawn in order to keep it lush and green all year round.

The first step is to understand the climatic conditions of Riverside, CA, then learn the grass and garden plants that the climate supports. Riverside is located in California, which has frequent fluctuations in temperature. Whereas the summers are hot, the winters are quite cold and dry. If you are looking to develop and maintain a healthy lawn, you need to find plants that agree with the local climate conditions.

Grass types for Riverside, CA

Due to the fluctuating weather, picking a grass-type for your lawn can be a challenge.

Bermuda grass is a tropical grass that does well in hot and humid areas. It is a tough and fast-growing grass-type. It has a grey-greenish appearance with short blades and flattened stems and has great drought tolerance. Bermuda grass grows best in the summer and goes dormant in the winter. You need to mow it frequently during the growing season because it grows quickly.

Fescue is a cool-season turfgrass that has narrow green blades. Fescue is a popular grass-type because it doesn't need to be mowed or fertilized as often as other grasses. There are two varieties of fescue grass, fine fescue, and tall fescue. Tall fescue has deep-seated roots that give it better resistance to drought and weeds.

Zoysia is perfect for California soil because it is drought and salt tolerant. It is a fine-textured and elegant grass-type that is ideal for home lawns. It tolerates a wide range of temperature and moisture. It is not as tough as Bermuda grass, but it forms a dense turf that supports a huge amount of foot traffic.

Native plants in Riverside, CA

The best way to reduce the maintenance costs for your lawn is to have plants that grow naturally in California.

Desert willow s is a little flowering tree that can add color to your lawn. It has long, slender leaves and pink flowers. The desert willow only grows to about 30 ft. tall which makes it easy to accommodate in small lawns.

Common lippia is a low growing perennial, with long linear stems that spread on the ground to form a dense network of carpet-like vegetation. Fully developed common lippia plant network looks like a lawn. However, it is grown for decorative purposes because it does not support foot traffic.

Incense cedar is an evergreen conifer that belongs to the cypress family. The name incense came about because the leaves of the tree emit a specific smell when bruised. It can grow up to 30 meters tall when fully developed. This large tree has a straight bark and its timber is used for carpentry.

Feather bush is a large shrub that eventually grows into a small deciduous tree with low branches. Feather bush shrubs are normally about 14 ft. tall but the trees can reach a maximum of 25 ft. They produce white flowery balls during spring and can be a beautiful addition to a botanical garden or any residential landscape.

Ashy leaf buckwheat is a light-gray shrub that grows to about one meter tall. It has wavy-edged leaves and clusters of pink flowers hanging from its stem. This plant naturally grows all through the California coastline.

Lawn care tips for Riverside homeowners

Inland Empire yard service is a continuous job. To keep a lawn healthy, you need to regularly maintain it. The following are a few tips on how to care for your lawn.

Regularly clean up your yard. Frequently rake and remove debris from the lawn, especially if you have children or pets in your household. Remove fallen leaves from the yard. Fallen leaves and thatch clog up your grass and can block water and nutrients from reaching the soil. Dethatch your lawn on a regular basis, or get an Inland Empire yard clean up company to help take care of it. You can schedule Inland Empire yard clean up services from local lawn care companies.

The best way to get rid of weeds is to make your lawn a hostile environment for them, so treat your lawn with pre-emergent herbicides before growing season and post-emergent herbicides after growing season to ensure you have a weed-free lawn. You can purchase herbicides from an Inland Empire weed control company, or preferably, get an Inland Empire weed control specialist to come and spray the lawn for you.

How you mow your lawn determines the ultimate health of your grass. Depending on the grass-type you have, consult your Inland Empire yard service company on how frequently you should mow. The other things you should monitor are the height of the cut and the sharpness of the mowing blades. Preferably, get a professional from an Inland Empire lawn service company to mow your lawn.
