Shawnee lawn care

Shawnee, Missouri has a rich history, scenic parks, and great lawns in its local schools. Shawnee is a fantastic place to visit, and an even greater place to live.

Historical Facts

Shawnee is a bustling town of 65,000 residents with beautiful trees, green lawns, and colorful flowers lining its streets. The whole city consists of modern buildings and houses. These structures are the heart of the city.

However, 200 hundred years ago in the 1800s, there were no modern buildings or green lawns. Trees, natural landscapes, and uncut grass are the staple of the Shawnee countryside. In 1820, the Shawnee Native American tribe lived and worked on the land that is now home to Shawnee city. The town is named for the Shawnee Native Americans who once lived there.

Forced relocation caused the Shawnee tribe to move to Kansas by the US government. At first, the government bought the land in Missouri in exchange for land in Kansas. Then, little by little, that land was taken away from the Shawnee tribe and left only a small portion to the Shawnee tribe. The land in Missouri was then later sold to European settlers seeking to build homes and make new lives.

European settlers took over the land and created a new settlement. Shawneetown was established in 1856. The name of the township was shortened to Shawnee in the 1860's, but some old maps still bare the name of Shawnee township. Shawnee barely survived the Civil War, and needed to be rebuilt in the late 1860's.

For over 100 years Shawnee was a small rural farming town. Shawnee was prosperous, successful, but small. In the 1950s, prominent city residents began to leave the cities and relocate to the country. Overcrowding, pollution, and business of city life became too much for many residents of Kansas City to handle. Looking for a more peaceful life, an influx of new people moving and settling in Shawnee. These new residents have brought the population to 65,000 and has helped the small farming town grow into a larger bigger city, that still has the clean air and charm of a small town.

Scenic Parks

Shawnee had lovely parks and sports complexes. I like the Shawnee Park sports complex in Cape Girardeau. The park has manicured, well maintained lawns. The park is clean and holds soccer tournaments each year to thousands of spectators. The park offers lots of parking for these soccer fans. The park provides a great concession stand with delicious food for all.

Another lush park in Shawnee that I like to explore is Listowl Park. Listowl Park boasts tennis courts, play areas for kids, passageways, a spacious ballpark, and even a roller hockey rink. Something to keep everyone busy this park is an excellent place for families and individuals to visit over and over.

Types of Grasses in Schools Districts in Shawnee

Grasses are one of the most common plants in the world. I even learned that corn and wheat are grasses. There are hundreds of species growing all over the world.

Tall fescue and Kentucky Bluegrass are the most common types of grass in Shawnee. These species grow the best in Missouri and thrive. Schools and parks alike utilize these grass types in there planting and gardening.

The schools in Shawnee plant these species. They also pay extra attention to their care, by fertilizing and watering their lawns as often as needed. These lawns are mowed regularly and help to beautify the neighborhood as well as the school grounds.

In conclusion, Shawnee is an attractive place to live and visit. Shawnee's name comes from the Shawnee Native American tribe that called it home before the 1820s. Shawnee today, has beautiful parks like the Cape Girardeau sports complex and Listowl Park. These parks have fantastic types of grasses, like the schools within Shawnee itself.
