How do you beat the heat when working outside? I normally have a military-style camel pack that I have my water on my back.

Have you ever rescued a lawn from certain death? How did you do it? A customer said they wanted me to come and hand pull all of their weeds out, and when I got there I said, "Well, here's the thing. Your whole yard is weeds." I said, "There isn't any grass here. So, literally, if I do what you're telling me to do, it'll look like somebody dropped bombs in your yard." He was like, "Wow. So what do I need to do?" I said, "You need to put a weed and feed down, that way you can kill the weeds and then put down the seeds." I went in and we changed it to what needed to be done and it was exactly what he wanted.

What made you want to start a lawn care service? I started back in 2013, and I actually was doing a lot of work with my own yard. Some neighbors started asking me to help them do theirs the same way. Then I was like, "Hmm, maybe I got something going on here." I started doing jobs on the side. Then I decided, shoot, I could do it on my own, and that was the beginning.

What do you love most about being a lawn care provider? Every day is different. It doesn't matter if you have the same customer, something's always different. Something happens, something breaks, something goes well, and it's different. Then also, when you can decide, especially when you're cutting the grass, which way should you go? You try to do it the best way to make it long look clean. There's just always something different.

What makes you a great lawn care provider? I have a military background. Being in the Marines, I know the importance of doing a good job. On military bases, you dare not step on the grass. The grass is like the thing you just didn't fool with. You should never leave a site with the customer not being able to tell that you were there.

Have you always had a passion for lawn care? For some reason, I've always liked plants. I love plants. I got it from my mom.. I have all my plants outside, on my deck in the summer, spring, I pull them all in the house, and I keep them alive through the winter.

Do you have a lawn care specialty? I would say my specialty is actually trimming bushes. When you trim a bush and you can make it a perfect circle or square, or even make that thing look like it just got a haircut!
