With a landscape once dominated by cotton and alfalfa fields, the Avondale we know today looks much different from its original appearance. In comparison to other municipalities, Avondale is a relatively new place that was only incorporated in the mid-1940s. Today, it is considered one of the fastest-growing and "most livable" among Arizona cities. About 84,000 people call this beautiful city home.
Avondale's Special Events
Many cities take pride in their history and identity. But not all of them host special events celebrating their most important milestones. That's not the case with Avondale, however, which has many special events throughout the year to honor the city and the state of Arizona.
CulturePOP
Once called the "Tale of Two Cities," CulturePOP is a festival led by Avondale and its partner city, Goodyear. The festival started nearly a decade ago to commemorate Arizona's 100-year anniversary. However, it proved so popular that it is now an annual tradition. Festival-goers can look forward to a parade at each annual event as well as musical entertainment, wine and beer from around the world, and a global selection of cuisine. The festival takes place in February and benefits local organizations. In addition to attending the festival as participants, people are encouraged to sign up as vendors.
Tres Rios
Seeing how much natural beauty Avondale has, it might not be all that surprising that the city also has a nature festival. This festival, called Tres Rios, celebrates the diverse geography, flora, and fauna of the area. It is an ever-popular two-day event held each spring that includes canoeing expeditions on the Gila River, bird-watching tours, fishing, and archery. Educational sessions teach festival attendees about the area's wildlife and water sources.
KidsFest
Held in Friendship Park, Avondale's KidsFest highlights the hard work of local community organizations to show the vital role of families in establishing a healthy and productive community. It has activities geared towards children and their families such as water safety courses, educational courses, and seminars on best practices for healthy living.

In addition to the park's daily activities, some special programs and events take place periodically to educate visitors on the area's natural landscapes, history, and wildlife.
Friendship Park
