Ashland’s temperate climate is great for us, but it’s not ideal for every grass. Knowing what variety grows in your yard is critical to your lawn care strategy. You likely have one of these:
Do use a sharp blade when you mow to avoid shredding your grass. And be sure you’re mowing to the height preferred by your grass. Here are the recommended heights for each grass type. Mow once a week during the growing season.
Don’t mow more than one-third of your total grass length at a time, or you might damage it.
Do water your lawn early in the morning to prevent evaporation and ensure your lawn gets all the water it needs.
Do be sure your lawn gets an inch to an inch and a half of water per week, including rainwater. If you notice signs of dehydration, you can water more.
Don’t overwater your lawn. This can make it weaker and leave it susceptible to fungal diseases.
