Are you ready for the glorious summer in sunny Whittier, L.A.? The sun is setting later and later each day, giving adults and kids alike more time to get outside and play. And no matter what your style is, Whittier has activities for everyone.
Why Whittier?
Right outside of Los Angeles, Whittier is the perfect blend between city and suburb. It has all the flash and style of L.A., but also a peace of mind that you won't find in the city. Whatever you're looking forward to most this spring and summer, Whittier has recreation and activities for everyone.
Whittier Adult Softball
Need a way to kick back and de-stress while getting a bit of exercise in? You should join one of Whittier's Adult Softball teams, or grab some friends and form your own team to play in the league. The league has teams that play on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Sunday has games for Coed teams and Men's teams.
Whittier Community Center Gym
Want to meet new people while getting your heart rate pumping? Stop on by Whittier Community Center Gym for open play times every Tuesday and Thursday. Grab your ball and head on out to play.
Therapeutic Trips
If you have a loved one who is 15 years or older with developmental disabilities, they may benefit from Whittier's Therapeutic Trip Program. These trips give individuals with developmental disabilities the chance to get out into the community and experience autonomy. Trips go to such places as sporting events, amusement parks, museums, and fairs.
Palm Park Aquatics Center
Cool off on hot summer afternoons at the Palm Park Aquatics Center. You can sign your little one up for After School Swim Lessons, so they learn how to be around water safely. Or for your kids who already know how to swim, stop on by during the Palm Park Aquatics Center Open Swim time.
Summer Day Camp
Kids get easily bored during the summer, and if they aren't given activities to keep them busy, they often end up getting themselves into trouble. The City of Whittier Day Camp gives the city's youth a positive day experience where they can play sports and games, go on field trips, make arts and crafts, and experience many other activities that will keep them engaged and having fun. The program is open to children ages 7 to 13. The program meets from June 10 to August 9 at Palm Park and Parnell Park, Anaconda Park, and Michigan Park.
