Warr Acres is a northwest suburb in the metropolitan area of Oklahoma City. C.B. Warr, a successful businessman, commercial developer, and builder, established the city following World War II. It was incorporated in February 1948. The total land area of Warr Acres is 2.8 square miles, and the population numbered 10,043 at the time of the 2010 census.
The climate tends to be subtropical with a high humidity level. Weather variations are common, except in summer when the heat and humidity are consistent. Being in the middle of Tornado Alley, Warr Acres has severe and frequent tornadoes. Since 1890, over 150 tornadoes have hit the Oklahoma City metropolitan area.

Lake Hefner
In Oklahoma City's urban area is a man-made reservoir that was constructed in 1947 to supplement the city's water supply. This lake's capacity measures at 75,000 acre-feet. It was named after Robert A. Hefner, Warr Acres' mayor from April 11, 1939, to April 8, 1947. Surrounding the lake is a 9.5-mile bike trail.
On the north, west, and east, the lake is bordered by some of the residential sections of urban Oklahoma City. The Lake Hefner Parkway and the Lake Hefner Dam border the lake on the east and north sides respectively. The south side is mostly undeveloped, lending a feeling of the untamed forest. Overholser Park
Overholser Park features a large pavilion and many shelters that can be rented for group activities such as birthday parties or family reunions. The pavilion can accommodate 50 to 100 guests. Dolese Youth Park is a great place for the younger set to enjoy a day of fun. There is a fishing pond for the children, walking trails, and baseball fields. For young golf enthusiasts who love disc golf, there is an 18-hole course featuring concrete trees. From April through October, restrooms are open to the public.
