Cypress lawn care

Cypress is an unincorporated community located in Harris County, Texas, which is inside the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Houston. Twenty-four miles northwest of Downtown Houston, the Cypress area is located along the U.S. Highway 290. In the early 1980s, the Cypress community started transforming into one of Houston's largest, booming suburban communities. Today, the Cypress area is also known as an affluent area, ranking 50th in the top 100 highest-income urban areas in the U.S. If you are searching for the perfect summer home or a great vacation spot in Texas, Cypress is a gem of a location.

History

According to historical records, many Atakapan Indian tribes lived in the area that is now known as Cypress, Texas. However, their tribes quickly died out once the white settlers moved across their land. Later in the 1840s, German immigrants settled along the Cypress Creek not too far from where Anglo-Americans were living on ranches. The first Cypress school was built in 1884. It was a one-room school, which later became the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District. Nearly a century later, this location became the second largest area of the state's school districts. It was in 1904 that Cypress began to develop quickly as a result of the discovery of oil along the Gulf Coast.

The finding of the hot artesian well, which was thought to have healing powers, became a turning point in Cypress history. Soon after its discovery, the Houston Hotwell Sanitarium and Hotel was constructed. The suburbanization of Cypress started in the 1950s, and by the 1980s, the community became officially incorporated but barely had 100 residents. Only a few decades later, the population grew to approximately 147,984 residents with a median income of $103,418. With some of the most expensive prime real estate in Texas, Cypress has become a mostly white-collar area. Approximately more than 85% of the workforce is employed in white-collar jobs, which is much higher than the national average.
