Austell lawn care

Austell is located in Cobb County, Georgia. It is part of the greater Atlanta metropolitan area. Although it is its own distinct place, Austell's identity is closely linked to Atlanta's. Austell is home to a little more than 7,000 residents. It is popular for its blend of small-town charm and proximity to a larger city that offers more in the way of events, activities, and economy. Austell was historically an attractive area for settlers and native hunters because of its water supplies and its salt reserves. The water near Austell is reportedly so clean that legends have emerged of its ability to cure illnesses. Many of Austell's natural resources are still available for the public's enjoyment today. Along with its precious resources, Austell also has many modern sites that appeal to everyone.

Salt Springs

If you asked someone today where Salt Springs is located, you might get some puzzled looks. Salt Springs was the original name for Austell, which has housed healing salt reserves for many years. Before settlers arrived, Salt Springs was characterized by large areas of wilderness. These open spaces were well-known for their abundance of plants and animals, which were a source of food and vital trading goods for the Native Americans who once inhabited the area. Salt Springs, as it was then called, was also revered for its fresh spring water, which was reportedly so beneficial for good health that it prompted the establishment of numerous churches in the area. The first church in the city was established by the Methodists, who held annual meetings dedicated to honoring good health spawned by the area's water and fresh air.

There were several original settlers in Austell, but one of the most prominent was a man by the last name of Mozeley. In addition to his own land, Mozeley owned (and later sold) much of the land around the community. Mozeley is responsible for the town's subdivision, which broke up 40 acres of land into squares. The new property boundaries created housing sites, building sites, and roadways, which were about 50 feet wide. A downtown center emerged shortly after, complete with a popular town tavern. In the 1800s, the railroad arrived in town, courtesy of the Georgia Pacific railway. The railway connected Austell to other cities in the region. The rail line also connected to other railway systems in the south that reached as far as Alabama and Tennessee. This broader network enabled the growth of Austell's economy and increased its population size.

Attractions in Austell

While Austell's water sources and salt springs were some of its original draws, it now has a number of modern attractions for visitors to enjoy, too. This includes golf courses, theme parks, water parks, and more.

Dogwood Golf Club

For those who enjoy golfing, a visit to the renowned Dogwood Golf Club is essential. This semi-private golf club features an 18-hole course surrounded by beautiful natural scenery. The golf course is open to the public, but it can be reserved for special events, too. There are also golf outings and tournaments that take place on the club's property. Reservations are accepted for tee times and to reserve the club for exclusive events.

Six Flags Over Georgia

If you're looking for a day of excitement and activity, Six Flags Over Atlanta is the place to be. This Six Flags theme park has a number of rides and amenities. It also contains a water park, which is especially appealing on a hot, muggy summer day in Georgia.

Lithia Springs

Lithia Springs, which has existed since Austell's formation, is still a revered source of fresh spring water for the city. Lithia Springs has since been purchased by the Bowden-Lithia Water Company, which ships the springs' famous water throughout the world. In recent history, demand for the city's fresh water has been so high that it has nearly outpaced the supply of water coming from the springs. The springs are surrounded by picturesque parkland that has open spaces and a playground.

Although Austell today is a modern and trendy city, its identity remains one of natural resources and the environment. If you want to add to the city's appeal, a good place to start is your own property. Establishing a new garden, planting trees, and sowing native grasses are all easy and effective ways to boost your yard's appearance.
