Douglasville lawn care

Douglasville is a pleasant community of over 30,000 people, about 20 miles west of Atlanta. One of its first names was "Skint Chestnut" because Native Americans used one of its large chestnut trees as a landmark; the tree had its bark stripped so it could stand out better. In 1874, the town was officially founded, and at the same time, it earned the designation of the county seat of Douglas County. Both the county and the city were named after United State Senator Stephen Douglas, who served in office from 1847 to 1861.

As the region has been developed, so has the infrastructure. A benefit to living in Douglasville is that it has convenient access to major thoroughfares. Highway 78/SR 8 runs straight through downtown Douglasville. Interstate 20 is another heavily traveled east/west route, and it has several exits within Douglasville. SR 5 and SR 92 are other centers of activity.

Downtown Douglasville is one of those areas that serves as a meeting place for many locals. It has an old-town feel and plenty of locally owned establishments. Here, you can find a small hardware store, post office, banks, cafes, and the Douglas County Museum of History and Art, which is housed in a former courthouse.

For those who like shopping at larger stores, bigger shopping centers are not very far. Just down the road on SR 92 is a shopping center anchored by a Kroger supermarket. Fast food chains, restaurants, banks, a drug store, and retail stores are also located here. Further south, on either side of Interstate 20, are more big box stores. This area is where you can shop at The Home Depot, Sam's Club, Best Buy, and Target. The Arbor Place Mall is on Douglas Boulevard, just south of the interstate. It's a multi-floor center that has a variety of eateries and retail businesses.

While it is great to be so close to so many stores, it can also be nice to head outside and take in the fresh air. For those in Downtown, there's Worthan Park. It's a quiet place to sit and relax or take a short stroll. Mill Village is also located near here, and many might live within walking distance. This makes it easy to take the kids out for some exercise or meet some friends to shoot some hoops. North of Downtown, there are a few places to take in the greenery. Willing Workers Community Club Park and Jessie Davis Park Center both have playgrounds and picnic facilities. If you're looking to join in on community activities, there's a good bet you'll be heading to Hunter Park. It has a pond, walking trails, numerous baseball/softball fields, and an 18-hole disc golf course.

If being out in the middle of nature is more interesting for you, you'll appreciate that the Chattahoochee River runs through the eastern part of Douglasville. Sweetwater Creek runs through the town to meet up with the river near the intersection of Route 70 and Route 6, and you might see people boating or fishing along the banks.

The area around the river is especially lush, but most of Georgia is filled with green space. With long, hot summers, the growing season is extended, and the mild winters encourage the development of many types of plants. In the winter, average temperatures can be around 40 degrees, so frosts cannot be ruled out. In the summer, the humidity makes things feel pretty sticky. In terms of the temperature, highs frequently reach 90 degrees, dropping into the low 70s or high 60s at night.

This type of climate makes Douglasville ideal for growing beautiful green lawns. The area has a lot of single-family homes with lovely green spaces in both front and back. Bermudagrass is one of the most common types of grass in this part of Georgia. Many of the golf courses and sports field use this type of grass because it does do well, even with high traffic. Centipedegrass, tall fescue, zoysia, and St. Augustine are other types of grass that you might find in a yard. Sometimes, people lay a mix of grasses on their properties in Douglasville to protect against the ill effects of either unusually cold or dry weather. If you live in Douglasville and are looking for professional help with your yard, turn to Lawn Love. We can set up a service plan that works for your needs and preferences.
