Woodstock lawn care

The city of Woodstock in Georgia is one of the fastest-growing towns in the country. However, this is only a recent phenomenon as it was historically overshadowed by its larger and more prominent sister city, Atlanta. For that reason, Woodstock's nickname is "a city unexpected." This nickname is certainly fitting for a lively place with many attractions, beautiful scenery, and excellent quality of life. Now, Woodstock is ranked #8 of all places to live in Georgia, and it's one of the 50 most desirable places to live in the nation.

Woodstock's Origins

Woodstock is located in Cherokee County. Initially, its growth was sparked by the fact that it was a stop included on the Louisville Nashville Railroad. Woodstock was officially established in 1897, although historical evidence shows that settlers were living in the area well before then. Postal records indicate the presence of a postmaster in the city dating back to 1833, although there was no official town or city at that point. There is also evidence of buildings and significant structures in present-day Woodstock dating back to the early 1800s. These structures included a number of churches and a few residential buildings. Eventually, the town became a unified entity. It was formally incorporated in 1897. About 15 years later, the construction of the town's train depot encouraged more economic growth and a growth in population. Although the train's passenger line service ended in 1949, it was still an important export for Woodstock's cotton, agricultural, and rope products.

Attractions and Things to See in Woodstock

Now, there's much more to see in Woodstock than just a train station. The city has historically taken pride in its open spaces and green areas, which it has gone to great lengths to conserve. In addition to its many trails and parkways, there are attractions in the town center and beyond that are worth seeing if you're visiting the area.

Greenprints Project

This project is a long-time project dedicated to constructing recreational trails throughout the city and its natural areas. Special places included in the trail network are Noonday Creek, Little River, the Kings Ridge Estate, and a large property owned by the US Army Corps of Engineers. The project, which is still ongoing, has an ambitious plan to link Woodstock with other cities throughout the county eventually. For now, however, the public is welcome (and encouraged) to enjoy the trails that currently exist.

Berry Patch Farms

With pumpkins, Christmas trees, and seasonal berries, Berry Patch Farms offers visitors the opportunity to get outside and enjoy some fresh air while picking their own produce and holiday items. The property also contains a barnyard with animals that children can visit, and it offers seasonal hayrides as well.

Dixie Speedway

Dixie Speedway was established in 1968. It is a 3/8-mile long track in the city that features stock car racing regularly and periodic special events such as sprint car races, motorcycle races, and monster truck championships. Concerts are also occasionally scheduled at the raceway. The Dixie Speedway covers about 150 acres of land and has over 5,000 seats in a stadium-like setting, which leaves plenty of room for spectators.

Lake Allatoona

For those looking for a peaceful and relaxing place to escape the hectic pace of city life, Lake Allatoona is a perfect destination. This lake is located near the Etowah River. It is one of the most popular lakes in the nation maintained by the US Army Corps of Engineers for its spectacular natural beauty and recreation opportunities. Swimming, camping, hunting, boating, and wildlife observation are all activities that people enjoy at this lake. There are also picnic areas and sandy shorelines.

Woodstock Center

The center of Woodstock contains a mix of historic charm and modern attractions. Side-by-side, you'll find many locally-owned boutique stores, antique shops, book stores, and more. Over 35 independent shops reside in the town center, and with more than 20 restaurants and cafes, there's never a shortage of good places to eat. Along with these year-round attractions, there is a cultural arts village downtown with regularly scheduled activities celebrating the area's vibrant arts scene. Completing the town's amenities are local breweries serving craft beer and top-rated spas and salons for those who want a day of pampering.

With its lovely climate and pride in its natural beauty, Woodstock's citizens like to keep their properties looking beautiful and clean. If you're thinking that your yard could use some professional attention this spring to look its best, contact Lawn Love.
