Acworth lawn care

Acworth is a vibrant city in Cobb County, located in northern Georgia. Acworth is home to nearly 29,000 residents, which is almost 10,000 more than it had in 2010. More people are moving to Acworth, and for good reason. It is home to some of the region's top attractions such as renowned concert and events venues. Acworth is nicknamed the "Lake City" for the fact that it has beachfront areas on two lakes. Although Acworth holds plenty of appeal for modern activities, it is also not a city that has lost touch with its roots. First inhabited in the early 1800s, it is a city that is still proud of its history today.

Acworth Begins

Historians believe that Acworth was first discovered and inhabited by tribe members of the Cherokee Nation in the early 1800s. However, settlers arrived by 1840 and forcibly removed the Cherokee from the area. The area in which the Cherokee lived included surrounding towns and cities, which were ultimately subdivided and categorized into their current layouts. Around the time that American settlers inhabited the city, the railroad also came to town. The arrival of the railway brought more visitors and settlers. It also sparked the growth of the economy, which included more business and employment opportunities. A watering station was constructed to serve trains coming to and from the city. The city was named in the early 1840s after a man named Joseph Gregg, who was an engineer for the Western and Atlantic Railroad. Gregg, who came from the town of Acworth, New Hampshire, wanted to give his new place of residence the same name. About ten years after it received a railroad, Acworth got telegraph lines and new school. By 1860, it was officially incorporated as a city.

Today, history continues to be made in Acworth. Footage for "Footloose" was filmed in downtown Acworth in 2011. Most of the scenes were shot at the Presbyterian Church in the city's center. In 2017, about six years later, the city hosted a Wakeboarding National Championship. Residents and visitors today can still see the locations where these two events took place.
