Roswell lawn care

The historic town of Roswell was incorporated on February 16, 1854. Roswell was named after one of the original settlers in the area, Roswell King. Several settlers traveled in the area looking for profitable mines. After discovering an area by the Chattahoochee River, King decided to build his textile mill on the river. The Roswell Mill and Roswell Manufacturing Company played an essential role in the development of the town. Today, Roswell is filled with historic homes and natural wooded areas for you to explore.

The Chattahoochee River played an essential part in the history of the town. You can visit the Chattahoochee Nature Center to learn about the river. This center is the oldest non-profit natural science complex in the state. This sanctuary includes over 27 species of native wildlife throughout its 127 wooded acres. The center is also helping to replenish some of the rare and endangered native plants. You can get an up-close look at the five different wetland habitats in their Living Wetlands display. The bog and butterfly gardens also feature interactive exhibits. For those wanting to hit the wooded trail, you can travel along the river boardwalk for a peaceful walk.

Roswell started as an old milling town. If you want to look at the past, you can head over to the Old Mill Trail along Vickery Creek. You will find the ruins of the mill, and you can see what remains of the Roswell Manufacturing Company. These buildings were constructed in the 1800s, and they become the most successful mills in Georgia. The mills provided many goods to the Confederacy during the Civil War. Once you are there, you can see the 30-foot dam and millrace that were used to supply power to the buildings.

If you are looking for the last remaining building of the Roswell Manufacturing Company, you can still visit the Old Machine Shop. This two-story building is designed in the late Georgian style. At one time, it was third in production of cotton cloths in the state. During the Civil War, the Union troops burned most of the mill's buildings. Today, you can travel down the interpretative trail that will take you past the ruins and the dam's waterfall. The Vickery Creek Covered Pedestrian Bridge is located to the right of the Old Machine Shop. This footbridge crosses over Vickery Creek and connects the Historic District of Roswell. The bridge is one of the newest structures in the area. Built in 2005, the covered bridge is built from Douglas fir trees and spans over 161 feet.

There are many historic homes in Roswell. Kimball Hall was built in 1896, and it was the home of Sallie Kimball and Mrs. V.L. Williams. The two sisters ran the home as a boarding house for visiting ministers. You can walk around and see the structure that contained six bedrooms and a fireplace. Primrose Cottage is one of the first permanent homes in Roswell. This residence was built for the widowed daughter of Roswell King. In fact, Mr. King lived here for a time. The cottage is only open for special events. When the cottage is open for tours, you can see how the first settlers in the area had lived.

One of the first apartment buildings in the United States is located in Roswell. The Roswell Manufacturing Company built the structure for its workers. Each apartment building contains ten units. The downstairs combined a living area with a kitchen. Many of these buildings are private residences, but you always marvel at them from the outside. When you are downtown, you can visit the childhood home of President Theodore Roosevelt's mother, Martha Bulloch. Another place to visit is the Barrington Hall. This was the home one of the sons of Roswell King.

Roswell's main street is known Historic Canton Street. This historic uptown area is often called one of Georgia's "Great Streets." It features a vibrant community of unique shops, art galleries, and restaurants. This street even holds the Alive in Roswell festival on the third Thursday of the month. It is a street party that is attended by most residents and visitors in the town.

With all the exciting activities in Roswell, you want to get out and explore the area. You don't have time to worry about lawn care. At Lawn Love, we are here to help. We will take care of all your landscaping needs. You can sit back and relax in this quiet and historic town.
