Hurst lawn care

Now, more than 100 years after its creation, Hurst looks nothing like it did when the first settlers arrived. Since the 1800s, its landscape has transformed from barren and sparse to one of the most densely populated areas in Texas. Over the years, its economy has shifted from crop production and agriculture to aviation and commerce. In 2012, Hurst was ranked as one of the top 50 suburbs in Dallas. Today, it offers plenty of amenities for residents and visitors to enjoy.

A Timeline of Hurst's History

Hurst traces its origins back to 1841 when it was the chosen home of Bird's Fort, which was a fort named after Captain Jonathan Bird. The fort was constructed along the Trinity River. Before the fort's construction, the region was inhabited primarily by Native Americans. Skirmishes developed between the white settlers and native inhabitants, which led to the creation of several peace treaties. The peace treaties, along with the US government's allocation of land grants for people willing to move West, triggered rapid growth in development around the region. By 1870, records indicate that about 5,800 people lived in Tarrant County where Hurst is located. A portion of those inhabitants lived in Hurst itself, although historians aren't sure of the total population count.

As time went on, more settlers and more wealthy landowners moved to the area. One of the first prominent families to settle in Hurst was the Arwine family. Upon arrival, the family acquired vast amounts of land and established a farm called Red Sulphur Springs. The family, who came from Indiana, later encouraged their neighbors and friends to move to Hurst. In 1879 the Arwine family deeded about five acres of land to the city for construction of a church, a school, and a cemetery. The cemetery, which still exists today, was designated as a historic site around 1977. It is located near the popular Bellaire Shopping Center. In the 1980s, William Hurst moved to the area and formed a successful speculating and trade company. In 1903 he struck a deal with the Rock Island Railroad to let a portion of his property serve as a right-of-way for the company's rail tracks. The construction of the railway was followed by completion of the Rock Island Station. In 1909, the city of Hurst was given its official and present-day name.

What to See in Hurst

Now, Hurst is a thriving city with no shortage of sights to see and events to attend. If you're looking for good music in the Dallas area, Hurst is an excellent destination. Live concerts take place throughout the city around the year. Shopping, skydiving, and indoor trampolining are other notable activities in the area.

North East Mall

The North East Mall is a popular shopping destination that attracts shoppers from across Texas. It is one of the largest and most varied shopping malls in the area, which led to its distinction as the #1 shopping mall in the county. It is also the third biggest mall in the Lone Star State. The mall, which started in 1970, has more than 135 shops.

Indoor Skydiving

Those looking for a thrill can try out the indoor skydiving, which is offered at the iFly Indoor Skydiving center. The skydiving center provides a practical alternative to skydiving by jumping out of a plane. Some people use the center to practice for a real skydiving flight, while others prefer the safety of the controlled indoor environment. Visitors can "fly" in a special air-filled tank with an experienced instructor alongside.

Rebounderz Trampoline Arena

This indoor trampoline center promises high-flying fun for participants of all ages. It is an especially popular place to hold children's birthday parties. The arena features traditional trampolines as well as jump towers, laser tag, rock climbing walls, and select play areas for younger children. The arena can be rented out for private events and parties for those wanting to have their own unique custom celebration.

As evidenced by its history, Hurst has come a long way from its days as an agricultural community. Now, its scene is predominantly urban and filled with shops, indoor attractions, regional shopping malls, and other amenities. While you can't change the fact that Hurst's landscape has changed from grass to buildings over the years, you can at least keep some green on your property. And if you do, why not make it look its best? For professional assistance with your lawn care needs, don't hesitate to contact Lawn Love for quality lawn maintenance service of all kinds.
