Atascocita is a greatly populated, affluent area located northeast of Houston, bordering the west side of Lake Houston. A beloved area, Atascocita has been named one of the "Best Places to Retire" by U.S. News & World Report. Known for the Atascocita Country Club, stretching across four miles of lakefront on beautiful Lake Houston, it has some of the best amenities and service in the country. Our History
In the 1960s, the city of Houston annexed portions of what would later become Atascocita, but then it was de-annexed a decade later. Over the years, Atascocita became of the most robust areas in the Greater Houston Area with over 15 neighborhoods in the 1990s. Today, Atascocita remains a great attraction as it was listed as one of the top ten notable high growth areas in the United States in 2009.
Demographics
As of the 2010 census, Atascocita had a population of 65,844. In 2017, approximately 24,513 households were counted in the area. Additionally, the homeowner vacancy rate was less than 1 percent, and the median rent was $1,336 per month. Of married couples in Atascocita, over 90% are homeowners. In fact, of all residents of Atascocita, more than 80% are homeowners.
Primary and Secondary Education
Atascocita has many local schools for its residents to attend. Elementary schools include Atascocita Springs, Eagle Springs, Oaks, Pine Forest, Timbers, and Whispering Pines. Neighboring schools in Kingwood and Houston serve portions of Atascocita. Middle schools include the Atascocita Middle School in Houston, the Humble Middle School, the Wood Creek Middle School in Atascocita, and more. While portions of Atascocita are served by outer schools, such as Humble High School, most of our population attends Atascocita High School in Atascocita. Modeled after Thomas Jefferson's iconic Monticello estate, Atascocita High School property is valued at $46.9 million. In 2010, the Texas State Board of Education recognized Atascocita High School for its quality of education and success rates.

There is also a beautiful, scenic paved walking trail around the playground, capturing the essence of Atascocita.
