Main City Park


Comprised of 75 acres, Main City Park amenities include a football field, three baseball fields, a basketball court, a disc golf course, multiple playscapes, and two conveniently-located restroom facilities. Football and baseball fields are accessible to the public when not under contract by local teams. Picnic areas are available to those who wish to enjoy food in the park. Most picnic areas are equipped with a barbecue pit.


Lakeside at Main City Park


Main City Park includes a lake and pond area. A gazebo is also available for taking scenic photos or just relaxing and enjoying the scenery along the water. The Lakeside section of the park features a pond that is equipped with an aerator to provide fresh oxygen to wildlife. The larger lake is stocked two times each year with an assortment of fish, including trout, catfish, and bass. Both the pond and the like include a handicap-accessible fishing pier. No fishing license is required on the first Saturday of June, which is National Fishing Day. Texas law is in effect for fishermen on the lake on all other days of the year.


Live Oak now allows the use of specific kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, paddle boats, and non-motorized watercraft on Live Oak Lake. However, private boats and manually-inflated rafts are not permitted. Those who wish to use watercraft while on the lake are required to wear a life jacket at all times. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited while boating. Personal watercraft may only be used during daylight hours. Although non-motorized watercraft are permitted, swimming in Live Oak Lake is not allowed.


Main Park Disc Golf Course


The disc golf course at Live Oak Park is home to some of the San Antonio area's best disc golfers. The championship course begins near the sports fields at Main Park and covers 1.54 miles. Six of the course's eighteen holes are located adjacent to water.


Woodcrest Nature Park


Residents flock to Main Park for all the action. Those who prefer to go on a quiet walk, hike, or jog surrounded by nature venture to Woodcrest Nature Park. Located on Forest Pass Court, the nature park covers 32 acres. Most of which are wooded. Well-planned walking and jogging paths allow for ease of use without the need to turn around to return to the starting point. Shaded picnic tables are scattered along the trail for relaxing picnics in a relaxing setting. The park also includes a playground area that features a large climbing wall, sit and spins, two giant slides, and elevated platforms with covered canopies, play panels, and bridges between platforms. A restroom is conveniently located near the playground to take the stress out of finding bathroom facilities when bringing small children for a day in the park.


Pool and Clubhouse


The Live Oak pool and clubhouse are available are open to the public and available for private event rental during certain months of the year. The pool is large enough to accommodate 75 people and includes shaded seating and a wading pool for small children. The wheelchair-accessible, climate-controlled clubhouse includes a kitchenette with modern appliances and can be utilized at any time of the year.


In addition to enjoying Live Oak parks all year-round, the city's residents may participate in special events that take place inside the parks. The Easter Egg Scramble, Halloween Family Night, and Christmas in the park are just a few of the events hosted by the Parks and Recreation department in Live Oak parks throughout the year.
